Open House BuildingsOpen House Thessaloniki is one of the city’s most popular festivals! It is organized by the non-governmental and non-profit organization Open House Greece, a member of the Global Open House community.

In 2012 Thessaloniki joined the Open House family setting the base for a unique event that would be dedicated to the city’s architecture and urban design. The basic idea was simple: “Everyone would be invited to a further exploration and deeper understanding of the urban design and public space in everyday life”.

Discovering the architectural treasures of Thessaloniki

The first Open House event in Greece took place in November 2012 in Thessaloniki. The audience loved it! Several architectural sites and buildings opened their doors to the public for a weekend thus turning the city into a huge open museum. Participation was free!

The Open House team offered free tours to many important buildings all around the city whose majority was accessible only during the Festival! All the tours were made by capable, well informed volunteers.

We believe it is one of the most interesting festivals that remind us of the numerous architectural treasures that this city has to offer. It is definitely worth of your time and attention. Open House Thessaloniki 2016 will take place in November 19 - 20. Don’t forget to take your camera!
